Helping Your Child’s Voice Be Heard

What Is Speech Therapy?

Speech therapy is a specialized service that supports children in developing clear, confident communication. At its core, speech therapy helps your child strengthen the skills they need to produce sounds correctly, understand and use language, and participate fully in conversations at home, school, and in the community. Our Speech-Language Pathologists (SLPs) are trained to break down complex skills into small, manageable steps—whether that means learning how to say a tricky sound, combining words into sentences, or using age-appropriate vocabulary.

At Eyas Landing, speech therapy is always tailored to align with your child’s unique strengths, needs, and developmental stage. We take a family-centered approach, coaching you along the way and ensuring home practice feels achievable and rewarding for

Our Speech Therapy Services

Diagnoses and Challenges We Treat

Our team is experienced in diagnosing and supporting children and teens with a wide variety of speech and articulation needs. Common diagnoses and areas we address include:

  • Articulation Disorders: Difficulties with making certain sounds (e.g., saying “wabbit” instead of “rabbit”).
  • Phonological Disorders: Patterns of sound errors that affect groups of sounds (e.g., dropping the final sounds in words).
  • Childhood Apraxia of Speech: Difficulty planning and coordinating the movements needed for speech.
  • Speech Delays: When a child’s speech develops more slowly than expected for their age.
  • Stuttering/Fluency Disorders: Interruptions in the flow or rhythm of speech (e.g., prolonged sounds, repeating syllables).
  • Resonance or Voice Disorders: Concerns related to pitch, volume, or quality of the voice.
  • Speech Differences Related to Autism, ADHD, Hearing Loss, or Cleft Palate: Addressing individualized communication needs for children with diverse developmental backgrounds.

If you have questions about your child’s specific diagnosis, we are always here to help you understand what services might be the right fit.

Approaches We Use for Articulation Therapy

No two children learn in the same way, so we use a variety of evidence-based approaches to help each child progress. Some of the most common and effective methods we use for articulation and speech sound therapy include:

  • Traditional Articulation Therapy: A step-by-step process where children practice targeted sounds in isolation, words, sentences, and conversation—with lots of repetition and fun games to keep learning engaging.
  • Phonological Process Therapy: Focuses on helping children recognize and change patterns of sound errors, making their speech clearer and easier for others to understand.
  • PROMPT Therapy: Uses gentle touch cues on the face to guide the movements needed for clear speech, often helpful for children who have trouble coordinating their mouth muscles.
  • Cycles Approach: Rotates through different sound targets in a set schedule, especially useful for children with multiple sound errors or more significant speech delays.
  • Play-Based and Functional Practice: Embeds speech practice into activities your child enjoys, building real-world communication skills in settings that matter most—like playtime, family routines, or classroom activities.
  • Family Coaching and Home Programs: We provide parents and caregivers with practical strategies and activities to use outside of sessions, supporting faster and more sustainable progress.

Throughout therapy, we track your child’s successes, adjust our strategies as needed, and celebrate every milestone—whether it’s mastering a single sound or speaking in longer sentences.

Building Confidence, One Sound at a Time

Our therapy services are designed to address the specific challenges that can make communication frustrating for your child. We focus on creating a supportive and engaging environment where children feel safe to learn and practice new skills.

Key Benefits of Our Speech Therapy Program:

  • Improved Clarity: We help children master the specific sounds they find difficult, making their speech easier for others to understand. This reduces frustration for both your child and your family.
  • Increased Confidence: As children see progress and can express themselves more effectively, their self-esteem grows. They become more willing to participate in conversations at home, school, and with friends.
  • Stronger Social Skills: Clear communication is the foundation of social interaction. We help your child develop the skills needed to build friendships, share ideas, and connect with their peers.
  • Customized for Your Child: There is no one-size-fits-all approach to therapy. We create an individualized treatment plan based on your child’s unique strengths, needs, and your family’s goals.
