Frequently Asked Questions About Therapy Intensives

Why do therapy intensives work?

Many children make progress with weekly therapy, but research shows that higher-frequency intervention can lead to stronger and faster skill development, especially for children with more complex needs.

Therapy intensives are effective because children are able to practice skills consistently across multiple days, build momentum through repetition and routine, and generalize progress across different therapists and environments. Intensives also allow for coordinated support from multiple disciplines working together.

How long does an intensive therapy program last?

Programs vary depending on your child’s needs and goals, but many families participate in intensives lasting several weeks, with therapy scheduled Monday through Friday.

Are therapy intensives covered by insurance?

Coverage depends on your specific insurance plan and the services included in your child’s program. Our team supports families through benefits verification, authorization, and coordination to make the process as clear as possible.

What makes intensives different from weekly therapy?

Intensives provide daily, coordinated therapy across disciplines, allowing children to practice skills more consistently and often make faster progress than with once- or twice-weekly sessions alone.

Do therapy intensives help children with autism?

Yes. Many children with autism benefit from intensive programs that combine ABA, occupational therapy, speech therapy, and social-emotional support within one coordinated plan.
