Is your child struggling to sit up, crawl, walk, or keep up with peers on the playground? Seeing your child face physical challenges can be worrying, but you don’t have to navigate it alone.

At Eyas Landing, we provide specialized Physical Therapy for Early Intervention designed to help infants and toddlers in Chicago overcome developmental hurdles. Our goal is simple: to help your child build strength, improve mobility, and achieve the independence they need to explore their world.

Why Early Intervention Matters

The first few years of a child’s life are critical for physical development. Early intervention addresses delays as soon as they appear, taking advantage of your child’s rapidly developing brain and body to create lasting change.

Waiting can often make physical challenges harder to overcome later. By starting physical therapy early, we can:

  • Prevent future delays: Address small issues before they become bigger obstacles.
  • Boost confidence: Help your child feel secure in their movements and ability to play.
  • Support independence: Teach skills that allow your child to navigate their environment safely.

“We understand how overwhelming it feels when your child isn’t hitting milestones like walking or crawling. Your concerns are valid, and our team is here to partner with you to find the right path forward.”

What is Pediatric Physical Therapy?

Pediatric physical therapy is like “gym class” for developmental milestones. It focuses on helping children improve their gross motor skills—the large movements involving arms, legs, and the whole body.

Our licensed physical therapists work with your child to improve:

  • Strength and Endurance: Building the muscle power needed for sitting, standing, and playing.
  • Balance and Coordination: Helping your child move smoothly and safely without falling.
  • Range of Motion: ensuring joints and muscles are flexible enough for movement.
  • Motor Planning: Teaching the brain and body how to work together to perform new tasks.

We specialize in treating conditions such as Torticollis, Cerebral Palsy, Hypotonia (low muscle tone), Developmental Delays, and Toe Walking.

The Eyas Landing Difference: Flexibility & Family Focus

We know that therapy isn’t just about the hour your child spends with us—it’s about how they move and function in real life. That’s why flexibility is the foundation of our care.

We Meet You Where You Are

We reduce barriers to care by offering therapy in the environment where your child learns best:

  • In Your Home: We come to you, using your child’s own toys and space to practice skills they use every day.
  • At Our Clinic: Our state-of-the-art facility in Chicago’s West Loop features sensory gyms, climbing walls, and specialized equipment designed to make hard work feel like play.
  • At School or Daycare: We collaborate with teachers to support your child in their educational setting.
  • Telehealth: Convenient virtual sessions that empower you to guide your child’s exercises with our expert coaching.

A Team Approach

Your child is more than just their physical challenges. Our physical therapists collaborate closely with occupational therapists, speech therapists, and behavioral specialists under one roof. This multi-disciplinary approach ensures we are treating the whole child, not just a set of symptoms.

Success Stories: Moving Towards Milestones

“Before coming to Eyas Landing, our son was frustrated because he couldn’t keep up with his brother. He wasn’t walking at 18 months. After just a few months of home-based PT with the Eyas team, he took his first steps. Now, we can’t get him to sit still! The therapist didn’t just teach him to walk; she taught us how to encourage him without pressure.”
Sarah M., Chicago Parent

“The flexibility was a game-changer for us. Between work and other appointments, getting to a clinic was impossible. Eyas Landing sent a physical therapist to our daughter’s daycare. They communicated with us and her teachers constantly. Seeing her climb the playground stairs independently for the first time brought tears to my eyes.”
David R., West Loop Dad

Frequently Asked Questions About Physical Therapy for Kids:

Do I need a doctor’s referral?
In many cases, yes, for insurance purposes. However, you can contact us directly to start the conversation. We can help guide you through the process of getting the necessary paperwork from your pediatrician.

My child has an IEP at school. Can we still do private therapy?
Absolutely. Many families find that school services are helpful but may not offer the 1:1 attention or frequency a child needs to make rapid progress. We often collaborate with school teams to ensure our goals align with their IEP, maximizing your child’s success.

Do you take insurance?
We accept a wide range of insurance plans and also work with families on Early Intervention funding. During your initial consultation, our intake team will verify your benefits so you know exactly what to expect.

What does an initial assessment look like?
A: It is a low-stress, play-based evaluation. We observe how your child moves, plays, and reacts to sensory input. We also spend time talking with you to understand your primary concerns and goals.
