James Grabowski has twenty years of experience in the field of mental health, working primarily with young children and families in offices in Wilmette and Roscoe Village where he provides clinical and developmental consultations. He has degrees from Northwestern University and the University of Chicago, and additional training from the Virginia Frank Child Development Center and the Chicago Institute for Psychoanalysis. Currently, he is a member of the Faculty at the Institute for Clinical Social Work and the Child Therapy Program at the Institute for Psychoanalysis.
Mr. Grabowski understands that mental health issues require a different kind of approach than standard medicine. “Once a broken arm is diagnosed and set, the break will mend and the injury will heal,” says Mr. Grabowski. “Mental health issues, though, are more complicated. The underlying illness can change over time, sometimes requiring longer and more varied treatment plans.”
At Eyas Landing, we recognize that ongoing training is an essential component of therapeutic care and that it is the job of every mental health professional to become an advocate for patient care. To that end, Mr. Grabowski trains therapists in the Chicagoland area — on child development, clinical process with children, and clinical work in child welfare – and is available for specialized one-on-one therapeutic care. Eyas Landing is always open to learning from other experts in the field because our aim is to provide the best possible care for our clients and to improve the lives of the children in our care.
