Valentine’s Day Fizzy Art Craft
Valentine’s day it just around the corner. If you are looking for a fun and engaging craft for your child look no further! This Valentine’s day Fizzy Art Craft will spark your child’s curiosity as they watch their creation come to life. But that’s not all. This activity gives your child an opportunity to work on their fine motor skills such as controlled finger movements, separation of the web space, pincer grasp, hand eye coordination, motor planning, and bilateral hand coordination. These skills are foundational as your child learns dressing skills, shoe tying, cutting skills, and handwriting.
Here is what you will need:
- Watercolor paper
- Foil lined baking sheet
- Baking soda
- Vinegar and cup(s) to put it in
- Food coloring (red, pink, purple, etc.)
- Medicine dropper or pipette
Step 1: Mix vinegar (about ¼ cup) and a couple drops of food coloring of choice into cups.
Step 2: Cut out watercolor paper in the shape of hearts.
Step 3: Place hearts on foil lined baking sheet. This will help contain the mess!
Step 4: Spread baking soda onto paper hearts.
Step 5: Use a medicine dropper or pipette to transfer colored vinegar onto hearts.
Step 6: Watch your art come to life!
