My Story

In the summer of 2020, I worked as a one-on-one counselor for children with developmental disabilities at a camp. I noticed that many of them had AAC systems, but very few of them had access those systems throughout the day or could use them functionally. This experience taught me the importance of making communication accessible for EVERYONE, especially those who cannot use speech to meet their communication needs. Both my classwork and graduate clinical experiences showed me how effective and powerful AAC intervention can be for individuals with complex communication needs (CCN), and I cannot wait to apply my skills and learn more about AAC as an SLP!

My Professional Goals

  1. I want to observe and learn more from other disciplines at Merlin Day Academy in order to develop a more well-rounded intervention approach for my clients.
  2. To further cultivate skills and knowledge surrounding feeding intervention.
  3. To gain experience and confidence in evaluating clients and providing clinical advice to families.

My Advocacy

I am very passionate about access to communication for ALL. Too often, individuals with complex communication needs are deprived of access to language and communication as a whole. In my career and in general, I hope to be an advocate for those who use/can benefit from AAC, because everyone deserves a voice!
