My Story

For as long as I can remember, I have wanted to be a teacher. I grew up with a “classroom” in my basement- stuffed animals as my “students”, whiteboard covered walls and all. Playing “school” was my favorite hobby. On top of this, beginning in elementary school, I have always easily connected with individuals with disabilities. My passion for this population grew as I got older, exemplified through joining and founding various clubs and volunteer programs. I followed my dream, pursued a degree in Special Education, and have been living my passion ever since. It is my mission to form intentional, meaningful, impactful, and lasting relationships with my students as I guide them to reach their potential both in and out of the classroom. I place value on trust and connection between teacher and student, allowing me to build and grow bonds which foster an environment of excitement for learning and growth. Each child is unique and learning is not one-size fits all. I take pride in my ability to meet each child where they are academically, socially, behaviorally, and emotionally each and every day. I care deeply for students as a whole and continuously give my all to ensure their academic success and overall well being. I relocated from Columbus, Ohio to Chicago Summer 2023 and I am so excited for a new journey with Eyas Landing and Merlin Day Academy!

My Eyas Landing

As of summer 2023, I am newly a Chicago resident and so excited to be a part of the Eyas Landing team at Merlin Day Academy! I am entering my fourth year in the field of Special Education. In my previous position in Ohio, I had the privilege of teaching second and third grade students with a wide range of ability levels and varying diagnoses. I was fortunate to learn about Merlin through colleagues and I cannot wait to get started!

My Advocacy

This past year I had the pleasure of head coaching the Young Athletes program through Special Olympics. I led soccer, basketball, and track seasons throughout the year and came away with abundant joy and passion for the organization. The sense of belonging and community created was beautiful and it was so much fun to give athletes the chance to showcase their abilities- no matter the skillset. I am looking forward to becoming involved again in a new city!
