Where are you from?New York.
What did you study?Masters in Speech, Language, and Learning and Bachelors in Human Communication Sciences.
Professional bio?I earned my Bachelors and Masters degrees from Northwestern University in 2017 and 2019 (respectively). I have experience in private outpatient facilities, in-home, and school-based therapy from early childhood (birth-3 years old) through the late teens, targeting a variety of speech and language goals. I gained valuable experience targeting goals related to fluency, receptive and expressive language, and early language development. I’ve participated in CEUs via webinar regarding therapy techniques for Autism, an in-person workshop with Mary Massery about optimal breath support for function and comfort at rest and during speech, and formal coursework regarding feeding therapy.
What do you specialize in?I specialize in Autism Spectrum Disorder, Feeding therapy, Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, Social communication and pragmatic use of language, articulation and phonology, fluency, receptive and expressive language disorders, AAC, early language development, and Childhood Apraxia of Speech.
Coffee or tea? In the morning, coffee (and lots of it!). After lunch, iced peach oolong tea with tapioca pearls.
What do you consider to be your greatest accomplishment? This is a hard one! I guess I’m really proud of moving far away from my family and being able to work through my academic career entirely, move into a new home, and begin to embark on my career by myself. I feel like everything I’ve been able to accomplish thus far, I’ve been able to earn entirely on my own merits and hard work. It feels so great to be able to say that.
Books or movies?Books, forever and always.
Where would you go on your dream vacation? I would love to go on a trip to Africa and spend some time working/playing with the kids in village schools. My partner recently took a trip like this, and now I can’t get it out of my head!
Favorite children’s book or song? “The Duck Song” always makes me laugh. The Little Prince and Goodnight Moon are favorites.
What skill are you most proud of? I love being able to find that one thing that a client and I have in common, that we’re able to connect meaningfully over–a game we both love, similar sense of humor, etc. I also love being able to use empathy and compassion to create a safe space for parents and caregivers to talk about their concerns or observations about their son/daughter.
Winter or summer? Both!
