Name the moment that inspired you to take your career path. When I was a teenager, I babysat for a family friend. Their youngest son, who was a toddler when we met, was recently diagnosed with autism, and they were told he would never speak, never attend school, never be what they dreamed for him. He and I became the best of friends; there isn’t one moment I can pinpoint. Every second I spent with him opened my eyes. I could never imagine doing anything else. Now, he’s a teenager; he’s in high school, loves hanging out with his friends, skiing, swimming, and playing video games. We’re proud of each other.
What do you consider to be your greatest accomplishment?Earning my degrees, beginning my career, and starting the rest of my life so far from home (my family is in New York!).
What do you love most about working at Eyas Landing?Eyas Landing is a family. I’m never sick of being there. Even my hardest days have beautiful moments. I’ve never been in an environment that so values the progress of the kids over everything else, enough to rearrange the entire building.
How has the supervision at Eyas Landing supported your professional growth?I feel like I’m both independent and supported. I can make choices as I see fit, but I never have to make a choice that I’m not confident in. I’m surrounded by people who are more experienced than I am, and I don’t think there’s a single person in the building I wouldn’t ask for help if I needed it.
Is there anything else you’d like to add about yourself?I can speak 3 languages and play 4 instruments!
