Name the moment that inspired you to take your career path.
My sister was in speech therapy for articulation but the moment that solidified my career path with AAC was in high school. Our school had a personal mascot who would travel around the school and attend all of our sporting events. He had Cerebral Palsy, was wheel-chair bound, and non-verbal. The first time I met him was when he wheeled into my Accounting class and rolled right up to my desk. He motioned for me to pull out his communication boards and began pointing and looking directly at me. He wanted to tell a joke to the class and chose me to be his voice. This was my first time using any type of communication system and I was so blown away by the positive emotion it brought to him to be able to have a way to express himself, I was hooked!
